No lump sum. No bank loan. Just insurance on payday.
Pay your annual premium in 12 equal M-Pesa installments.
Kenya's insurance market is one of the fastest-growing in Africa — yet most Kenyans remain uninsured. The barrier isn't awareness or willingness. It's cash flow.
"56% of respondents find insurance policies unaffordable or quite unaffordable. Customers should be allowed to pay premiums in installments and be assisted in premium financing."
— Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya (IRA), National Survey on Enterprise Perception of Insurance

A rapidly growing market, strong M-Pesa infrastructure, and a 3× penetration gap vs. the global average — Sabba is positioned at the centre of this opportunity.
Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has publicly recommended installment-based premium payment as a key mechanism to increase insurance penetration. Sabba's model is a direct response to that call — designed from the ground up to expand access, not extract margin.
Sabba's model is powered by two strategic partners: one insurance company that provides the product, and one bank that provides the loan guarantee facility. Together, we make insurance affordable for every Kenyan.
Provide the loan guarantee or credit facility that funds annual premiums upfront. Earn interest on a fully collateralised, insurance-backed loan book. M-Pesa auto-debit ensures predictable monthly repayments with low default risk.
Receive full annual premiums on day one of every policy — zero receivables risk, zero collections burden. Sabba brings you a new segment of customers who previously could not afford annual lump-sum premiums.
Both partners benefit when the customer succeeds. Our M-Pesa standing order, real-time dashboards, and data-driven credit model keep default rates low and renewal rates high — creating a growing, profitable book for all.
To unlock Kenya's underinsured majority by transforming annual premiums into accessible monthly installments — creating a new market, not just a new product. Sabba owns the customer relationship from first sale through every renewal and claim — we are the face of insurance, not a back-office intermediary.
To become East Africa's leading insurance financing platform, driving penetration from 2.39% to double digits by 2035.
Within a decade, Sabba will be the infrastructure layer through which millions of East Africans access insurance for the first time — a compliant, technology-native platform trusted by insurers, regulators, and customers alike.
Sabba is a technology company that finances insurance premiums — not an insurance company that uses technology. Our platform is M-Pesa native, API-first, and built on AWS (af-south-1 region) with 99.9% uptime SLA.
The customer mobile app (iOS & Android) allows anyone to buy insurance in 3 minutes, view their active policies, and track monthly payments — all through M-Pesa standing orders.
The founding team brings expertise across insurance operations, technology development, financial services, and business development in the Kenyan market.
Every product decision is evaluated through one lens: does this make insurance more accessible to the people who need it most?
Compliance is our competitive moat. We earn regulator confidence through transparency, accurate reporting, and proactive engagement.
Every shilling must work. We maintain rigorous underwriting standards and strict liquidity management to grow only as fast as our capital allows.
We finance insurance through technology — our platform is API-first, mobile-native, and built for reliability and scale.
Motor today. Medical tomorrow. Sabba is a steward to the relationship — not just the first sale.
When you choose a policy through Sabba, we pay the full annual premium directly to your chosen insurer. Your cover is active immediately. You then repay Sabba in 12 equal monthly installments via M-Pesa automatic standing order. A 2.5% monthly financing fee applies on the annual premium amount, making the total repayable 130% of your annual premium spread over 12 months.
If a payment is missed, we will notify you and attempt to collect via M-Pesa within a 30-day grace period. If the outstanding payment is not settled within 30 days, your insurance coverage will be suspended. Coverage is reinstated immediately upon payment. We communicate transparently at every step — no surprises.
Sabba monitors your policy renewal date and notifies you 30 days before your cover expires. If you choose to renew, a new 12-month installment plan is set up automatically — same monthly payment rhythm, no lump sum, no paperwork. There is no gap in coverage. Your payment history with Sabba is also used to assess whether you qualify for improved financing terms on renewal. We stay with you for as long as you need insurance — not just for the first 12 months.
Sabba charges a transparent 2.5% monthly financing fee on your annual premium — equivalent to 30% per annum. There are no hidden fees, no application fees, no processing charges, and no penalties for on-time payments. The total cost is clearly displayed before you confirm your policy. For a KES 35,000 annual premium, you pay KES 3,792/month × 12 months = KES 45,500 total.
Sabba Insurance Technologies Limited is a Kenyan fintech company built around a two-partner model: one licensed insurance company provides your policy, and one regulated bank provides the financing facility. Your insurance policy is issued directly by a fully licensed and regulated Kenyan insurer — giving you all the legal protections that come with a standard insurance contract. Sabba's role is to originate, finance, and service the installment plan on your behalf.
Sabba works with a single, dedicated insurance partner — a fully licensed Kenyan underwriter. This focused model allows us to negotiate the best rates, streamline onboarding, and ensure consistent service quality for every customer. Your policy is underwritten and issued by our insurance partner, and all claims are processed directly through them. Details of our insurance partner will be announced ahead of launch.
From opening the app to active coverage takes approximately 3 minutes. You'll need your national ID, vehicle registration (for motor insurance), and an active M-Pesa line. Our digital onboarding is fully paperless — no branch visits, no manual forms. Your policy certificate is issued digitally and available immediately in the app.
Submit your claim through the Sabba app or by contacting our support team directly. Sabba provides active claims advocacy — we represent you with the insurer throughout the claims process, from first notification through to settlement. You don't navigate the claims process alone. Our team follows up on your behalf and keeps you updated at every stage.
Whether you're an individual looking to buy cover, an SME owner, or a bank or insurance company interested in partnering with us — we'd love to hear from you.
